El saxofonista y compositor Javier Arau es el fundador y director de New York Jazz Academy®, una popular escuela de música de la ciudad de Nueva York. También dirige la Orquesta de Jazz Javier Arau, y es autor de varios trabajos sobre teoría musical e improvisación. Arau ha aparecido en The New York Times y DownBeat Magazine y se presentó dos veces como artista de portada para la revista Saxophone Journal. Sus composiciones han recibido premios de ASCAP, BMI, DownBeat Magazine e IAJE, y están publicadas por UNC Jazz Press y Dorn Publications. Saxophonist and composer Javier Arau is the founder and director of New York Jazz Academy®, a popular New York City music school. He also leads the Javier Arau Jazz Orchestra, and is the author of several works on music theory and improvisation. Arau has been featured in The New York Times and DownBeat Magazine and was the featured twice as a cover artist for Saxophone Journal magazine. His compositions have received awards from ASCAP, BMI, DownBeat Magazine, and IAJE, and are published by UNC Jazz Press and Dorn Publications. An internationally award-winning saxophonist, Arau is an artist-endorser of Virtuoso Saxophones and has performed at venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall. Javier studied with composer Bob Brookmeyer, theorist George Russell, and saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi. Arau currently resides in NYC with his wife and two daughters.
